Description

Job Ref SUN15391MB- Sunderland, SR3

About the Employer

I am both the mother and employer to my young son who has a diagnosis of Autism with some learning difficulties.

He has some mobility issues due to an operation when younger, however this impacts more on his ability to walk distances without regular stops or rests.

We are seeking a PA to provide weekly support to encourage and allow my son to access activities within the local community supporting him with his independence (Money management, Travel training and general life skills) and building a friendship with someone outside of the family home, The role is to befriend and assist him in developing life skills, which in turn will promote his independence, confidence, and self-esteem as he is generally quite isolated, enjoying his own company and space.

My son is initially shy with new people, however when comfortable with someone, he has a great sense of humour, a little cheeky and very loving.

He can communicate effectively with others and gets on well with peers and adults.

My son may require support with personal care - prompt and support at times when using the toilet and reminders to maintain her personal hygiene.

My son is extremely vulnerable so will always require supervision. He does not understand risk or danger to himself when out and about.

My so enjoys swimming, going to the cinema but predominantly enjoys his own company using his IPAD and watching YouTube.

The PA support will be required to encourage him to try new things to help him identify a hobby or new interests.

There may be times the PA will be required to provide activities within the home.
