Job Summary
- Key role of the jobholder is to produce and manage a portfolio of global accounts through his/her relationships with London brokers and through new sources, within the guidelines specified by SCOR Specialty Insurance, which will contribute to the achievement of the underwriting business plan
- Manage the existing portfolio (renewals, endorsements, risk and client visits, client meetings, claims involvement).
- Contribute positively to the overall results of SCOR Specialty Insurance by demonstrably sound technical and profitable underwriting
- Develop SCOR's market share and leadership position
- Enhance SCOR's image in the market by efficient and innovative support of client needs
- Negotiate bespoke PCR specific wordings
- Represent SCOR at international events, both general industry conferences and client hosted annual conferences
- Receive, select and evaluate offers of business from various sources, calculate ratings and negotiate the bespoke wordings of the contracts
- Generate and originate new offers and promote SCOR by proactive marketing in accordance with the strategy and guidelines defined in the SCOR Roadmap and relevant guidelines
- Maintain and develop relationships with clients and brokers; travel as and when required to do so
- Attend broker and client hosted events
- Respond to all enquiries in a timely manner
- Assist the Global Line Head in the research, development and report on new areas of potential profitable growth
- Maintain accurate records of quotes, risks accepted and declinatures
- Control and verify premium income according to business plan
- Assist the Global Line Head to produce reports of various formats for reporting purposes as required
- Contribute to the claims settlement process in conjunction with the claims department
- Contribute to the division's technical knowledge of sectors and subsectors in which the jobholder is working
- Motivate, encourage and contribute to the training of the team
- Attend SCOR's Lloyd's box to service brokers submissions and endorsements, and negotiate policy terms
- Ensure compliance with all relevant international licensing requirements for SCOR's various offices
Required experience
Essential
- Established underwriter with at least 4 years direct underwriting experience in the London market or elsewhere
- Proven underwriting skills including wording negotiation
- Established market relationships
- Experience of writing international business
Desired
- Established client relationships
- Knowledge of competitors, cedants, reinsurers and brokers within the London market and internationally
- Commercial and tactical vision
- Ability to successfully negotiate "facetoface" with brokers
- Ability to lead business
- Ability to promote the underwriting policy
- Ability to use spreadsheets to a good standard
- Able to adapt well to SCOR structure and philosophy, which includes technical underwriting and technical referrals
- Ability to quickly acquire a thorough understanding of SCOR's underwriting policy and guidelines
- Understanding of company computer systems
- Team player as well as capable of working on own initiative
