Job summary:
UKHSA's East Midlands Region covers 5 areas across the East Midlands.
Reporting to the Emergency Preparedness Manager, the Emergency Preparedness Officer (EPO) will develop their existing experience to provide a source of expertise and support in all aspects of emergency preparedness, resilience, and response (EPRR) within the region.
In line with the principles of Integrated Emergency Management, the EPO will be expected to ensure that responsibilities for emergency planning, resilience and business continuity are discharged effectively across the East Midlands.
The postholder will be a committed professional with the necessary skills and experience to provide the East Midlands with advice and support with regard to all aspects of EPRR.
The postholder will use existing skills to build internal and external relationships with a variety of partner organisations and groups.
Training and Exercising is a key component of this role, and the EPO will support the development, delivery and review of training and exercises.
The role of EPRR within UKHSA will be varied and dynamic and involve engagement with a number of internal teams.
The post holder will be responsible for managing several workstreams that cover the co-ordination and distribution of communications from the Regional Response Centre and the administration of the East Midlands Resilience Direct page.
Other areas of work will include supporting the EPR Manager to develop and deliver internal and external EPRR related training, managing annual EPRR work schedules and supporting the completion of the EPRR Annual assurance process.

- Border Health response
- Incident Coordination Centre (ICC) Activation

Location
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) operates a hybrid working model where business needs allow. This provides us with greater flexibility about how and where we work, to get the best from our workforce.
As a hybrid worker, you will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of your contractual working hours (approximately 3 days a week pro rata, (averaged over a month) working at Nottingham office.
The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business need and in line with departmental policy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Act directly on behalf of the Region EPM with responsibility for implementation of service development within the area of emergency preparedness and response.
- Provide specialist knowledge in emergency planning and the supporting systems e.g. incident coordination centres and act as sole point of contact for requests for public health information from other departments, partner agencies and other.
