IT Technical Security Engineer
Hybrid / West Midlands (1 day a week on site)

£55,000 - £65,000 + Bonus (circa 20%) + Private Health Care + Company Benefits


The Company


My client, one of the UK's leading financial services companies, who have won multiple awards for being an exceptional place to work.

They are looking for an IT Technical Security Engineer to join their growing Cyber Security team.


The Role


For this role you will need to provide a comprehensive Technical Security Service on behalf of Group IT working alongside external providers and staff.

You will need to be able to develop, embed, implement, and evaluate IT Technical Security best practise,influence, drive and provide consultancy to internal and external stakeholders at all levels on technical security matters.


Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and supporting on proposals for IT Technical Security Solutions within IT environment, in line with IT strategy, to ensure that the final IT Technical Security solution remains fit for purpose.
  • Monitor consoles and all security infrastructure tooling to assess requests, incidents and risks in collaboration with service providers. Fulfil requests and assess, resolve, and interpret threat, vulnerabilities or environmental changes that affect cyberrisk.
  • Manage and oversea major IT technical security issues, prioritising live incidents and systems problems affecting technical security infrastructure, in accordance with the ITIL framework; to restore service levels and mitigate business impact.
  • To make sure you are organised with the deployment of changes, upgrades, patches and technical controls for technical security products and related IT Infrastructure to ensure risks are prioritised and maximising technical controls to maintain risk profile.
  • To be active with monitoring, adapting and then delivering technical security operations procedures, standards, patterns, testing plans and technical baselines aligned to the Information Security Policy framework and deliver continuous improvement.
  • You will be investigating and helping find resolutions of technical security incidents to ensure the effective root cause identification and restoration plan.
  • Keep constant communication with key stakeholders and suppliers to ensure IT Division consistently executes its responsibilities on 1st line defence.
  • Deliver short term / oneoff projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with Line Manager.

Key Experience

  • Ideal applicants must have significant experience in an equivalent IT Technical Security / Cyber Security Engineer role. We would also consider a strong Network Security background.
  • Applicants should also have significant experience of working with Technical Security Infrastructure across a range of technologies e.g. SIEM
  • Have advanced Threat Detection Tooling, Active Directory and Public Key Infrastructure
  • It is essential that applicants have a broad experience across all aspects of IT Infrastructure and service
  • If you either possess a CISSP qualification or equivalent that would be preferred, my client would also help support in obtaining this.
