To join our Reception Team providing front of house services from our main Dermatology Department based in the John Parks Unit.


Main duties include telephone calls, receiving visitors and families, appointment bookings, use of electronic systems, processing of incoming and outgoing mail, scanning and photocopying., making up of patients notes ahead of clinics.

The key skills you will need to be successful in this role include:

  • good administration skills.
- excellent communication skills to liaise with children, young people, families and a wide range of healthcare and education professionals.
- flexibility, calmness and a positive approach.
- strong organisational skills and the ability to be flexible in line with service needs; and a thorough understanding of confidentiality issues.

Services

Dermatology (The John Parkes Unit) -This is where you will be working

The John Parkes Unit is situated across the road from the main hospital and a number of services are run out of this building including:

  • Dermatology
  • Here we run a service to treat all Dermatology referred patients as outpatients. Clinics run Monday
  • Friday with the occasional weekend (offered as overtime not mandatory). The normal working hours are between 8:30 5pm. During this time, we treat both referrals from GP's, A&E requests and Ward Referrals.

We run a range of clinics including:

  • Skin Surgery
  • General clinic (Eczema, Psoriasis, Tropical treatments etc.)
  • Phototherapy
  • 2WW clinics (Suspected Cancer)
  • PDT (Photodynamic treatment)
  • Follow up clinics
  • Specialist Nurse clinics
Child Development Centre
- a service for pre-school children with a wide range of needs and abilities. Some children have more complex difficulties to overcome and require ongoing therapy from the multidisciplinary team to help them achieve their full potential.

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language Team
  • Autism Assessment service team
  • Eating disorder clinic
  • Paediatric Rheumatology
  • Paediatric Orthotic
