Seven Education is looking for an SEN Manager in Tameside


The role:


To be responsible for the effective administration of the assessment and reassessment of pupils' special educational needs, including their placement, monitoring and review.


To manage the delivery of an efficient, effective and timely Special Educational Needs and Disabilities service for pupils in mainstream schools to ensure pupils achieve to the best of their ability.

To oversee service development and strategies to enable the Council to meet statutory requirements including implementing the requirements of new legislation


Lead and manage the work of SEN Casework Officers by making sure that everyone is working in the same way to the same goals, to meet statutory requirements and relevant timescales.

To champion and promote the welfare of children and young people, and ensure that priority is given to safeguarding.

To work effectively and contribute fully to the work of the Inclusion Team.

Work closely with pupils, students, schools and their families.

Prepare cases and represent schools and the Council at SEN and Disability Tribunals and at the Disagreement Resolution Service.

To actively contribute to local, regional and national developments within SEND


Key Responsibilities:


To be responsible for the management, development and implementation of appropriate policies and practices throughout the Special Education Needs Service.


To be responsible for the statutory assessment process and co-ordinating the outcomes of statutory reviews of statements/ Education, Health and Care Plans for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in mainstream schools both in and out of the boroughand to manage designated Casework Officers.

To develop and maintain effective relationships with headteachers, SENCOs and governors as appropriate in mainstream schools to ensure that the needs of pupils are met

To develop and deliver appropriate training for school staff to ensure that knowledge of the SEN assessment and processes is fully understood within the school and appropriate referrals are made for any assessment of a pupil's special educational needs


To work with the Inclusion Manager to respond appropriately to comments and complaints from MPs, elected members, schools, parents and colleagues.
