Aim & purpose of the role:

To be a primary point of contact for all aspects of transaction settlements and supporting Investment Managers/Assistants with all levels of queries.


Key accountabilities/responsibilities:


  • CREST, Unit Trust ,CAD, Residual and International settlements
  • Processing of Residual & physical settlements
  • Unit Trust processing (electronic & physical)
  • Daily reconciliation processing of Unit Trust transactions
  • Legal documentation and probate processing
  • Monitor firms outstanding open bought and sold positions
  • Process Cross Border Movements between various markets
  • Provide updates to, and resolve issues with Walker Crips Dealers with regards to new trades, new securities, trading locations, and Walker Crips Arbitrage
  • Processing Overseas demats in preparation for Trade Settlement
  • Check, liaise, and resolve issues with Registrars with regards to cross borders to and from the UK, for Walker Crips Arbitrage, Client Stock Deposits, and all related queries
  • Accurately record and provide regular Stats to Line Manager
  • Drafting of departmental procedures and ongoing ownership of those procedures
  • Challenge existing processes and recommend and implement changes, resulting in improving service quality, process efficiency and reduction in risk
  • Participation in key departmental projects and undertake any additional Operational tasks when requested by the Line Manager/Senior Management

Person Specification/Skills:


  • Selfstarter with a dynamic, proactive and "can do" attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communicator both formally and informally
  • Confident and approachable
  • Highly organised with a strong attention to detail, with particular focus on accuracy and numeracy ability
  • Be able to work effectively during pressure periods while prioritising and multitasking
  • Ability to react to events decisively and effectively and suggest innovative solutions to problems

Education/Experience:


  • At least 2 years prior experience working for a Settlements department within an Investment Management Firm
  • Knowledge of the following asset classes; Equity/Fixed Income/ETF/Investment Trusts
  • Good knowledge of Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Prepared and able to learn a number of systems
  • Willing to share knowledge effectively and show a flexible work approach within a team
  • Selfsufficient with the ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Willing to learn and crosstrain across other departments within Operations
