Lewisham CAMHS are seeking to recruit a Clinical/Counseling Psychologist to join the
Neurodevelopmental Team located at the Kaleidoscope Centre.

The post predominantly involves providing assessments (including cognitive assessments),

consultation and evidence based interventions with children and families, where the child has a diagnosis of ASD and/or LD and a mental health disorder or challenging behaviours.

The post holder will work very closely with other disciplines in the comprehensive assessment and delivery of evidence based therapy programs; assist in team audits and service development projects.

The successful post holder will predominantly work with children aged 0-18 years.

The Neurodevelopmental Team is a vibrant, supportive and innovative multidisciplinary team that works alongside other specialist and generic CAMHS teams in Lewisham and has links with the other NDTs in SLAM.

Clinical/Counseling Psychology and be eligible for registration with the HCPC.

The successful applicant will:

Provide specialist psychological services to the Lewisham CAMHS
Neurodevelopmental Team. The post holder will work effectively asa member of this multi-disciplinary team


Work as an independent and autonomous professional within BPS guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, taking full responsibility for own work.

Select and administer specialist psychological assessments including specialised psychometric assessment, neuropsychological assessment, self-report measures, as appropriate), structured observations, clinical interviews, and to interpret and integrate this highly complex data.


Formulate psychological treatment plans that are specific to each client, based upon an analysis of complex factors contributing to the presentation, and selectively drawing on appropriate conceptual and theoretical models.

Deliver evidence based psychological treatments, monitoring outcome and modifying and adapting interventions drawing on a range of theoretical options.

Assess and monitor risk and draw up appropriate risk management. To be responsible for psychological interventions with carers of referred clients to the team.


Provide specialist psychological consultation and supervision to colleagues and others and to contribute to a psychologically informed framework within the service.


Communicate skilfully, tactfully and sensitively highly complex and sensitive information with children, young people, carers and colleagues taking account of sensory and cultural barriers to communication.

Travel to statutory and third sector agencies, schools and home visits as appropriate.

Maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Trust guidelines, including electronic data entry and recording (e. g. ePatient Journey). To ensure that all services provided are acceptable and accessible to the diverse communities which make up the catchment area of the
service.

Contribute to specialist clinical assessments for ADHD and ASD in multidisciplinary contexts.
