Background


Catering and Retail Services (CRS) provides refreshments and catering for Members, their guests and staff as well as an extensive private banqueting function service and a retail section selling gifts and souvenirs.

There are several outlets offering formal dining and cafeteria style facilities including a busy banqueting operation which delivers over 900 events per annum catering for over 70,000 guests.


The Role


The main purpose of the role is to provide a service to guests and to always ensure the maintenance of good order and security, in and around the function rooms of the House of Lords.


Other responsibilities are to:

  • Introduce Speakers and ensure a smooth transition of speakers at events
  • Meet with the organiser at the entrance and guide them to the function room
  • Ensure guests vacate the room on time and escort to the correct exit gate
  • Ensure audio equipment is in place and working order prior to the event
  • Support the operations Manager to ensure a smooth running of the event
  • Act 'toastmaster as required'
  • To attend meetings as required to assist on the planning of wedding formalities
  • To collect and escort guests to and from other areas of the Palace as required by the Banqueting
  • Ensure the rules of the House are upheld
