Salary:
£27,727 - £32,620 depending on qualifications and experience


Working hours: 37hrs per week. Hybrid working available, with Tuesday and Thursday being designated office days

The Opportunity


As a Credit Controller Team Leader you will be responsible for leading the team to work closely with customers, stakeholders and service providers leveraging Performance Excellence tools and techniques to ensure that processes and systems are developed anddeployed to provide an effective and efficient high-quality team.


Key accountabilities:

Accountable for leading the team on all aspects of the full end to end credit control processes, such as;

  • Credit approvals
  • Credit limit setting
  • Debt collection
  • Dispute Management
  • Management of unallocated cash
  • Management of payment plans
  • Management of all debt ledgers, including reconciliations, bad debt provision & cashflow forecasting as appropriate.
  • Ensure the credit control processes are carried out effectively, delivered on timely basis, meeting all key deadlines including month end.
  • Provide authorisation of payments/refunds of up to £25k
  • Manage the training requirements across all processes and ensure team are trained to a high standard within SAP & S/
  • Drive team to prioritise effectively to meet set portfolio targets of cash collection across a large portfolio of customer ledgers, including ledger reconciliations.
  • Manage Theft of Gas ledger based on the requirements as set out for RIIO2 with expectation of delivery of £8m debt recovery.
  • Responsible for managing the contract performance & business relationships with our 3rd party solicitors.
  • Responsible for the compliance and maintenance of the Credit policy.
  • Accountable for the resolution or escalation of queries whilst suggesting quality improvements in order to minimise customer complaints, debt, process or contractual deficiencies
  • Drive & report weekly on Credit Control KPIs, such as Age of Debt, unallocated cash, enquiry volumes, payment plans, process improvements, process controls etc to Head of Financial Services/Director of Finance, escalating any issues as required.
  • Accountable for the delivery of internal and external audits requirements.

Including liaising with the Financial reporting team on audit deliverables timeframes and dealing with additional queries from external audit provider.


  • Escalation point for complex adhoc queries and support other team members when required
  • Manage teams performance on a regular basis and address performance issues where applicable
  • Develop meaningful and trusted relationships with customers and stakeholders and delivering a consistent and high quality service.
