We are looking for a professional and highly motivated individual who has the key skills to develop and lead staff based within our Oncology and Haematology Admin Teams.

Working in line with the Trust values, you will be responsible for ensuring that all administrative tasks supporting the delivery of care are undertaken to the highest standards and within agreed local and national targets.

Monitoring service needs and planning workforce requirements are also key features of this post.

Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience.

Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.


The post holder has responsibility for the provision of a professional, comprehensive and efficient administrative service, which is effectively delivered to all patients and members of the department.

This will involve providing a full administration service to the consultant team and taking responsibility for managing the whole patient pathway in line with the Elective Access policy.

In addition, the post holder will provide leadership to designated admin teams and have responsibility for budgets.


The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

In summary:


To provide support to the clinical leads including PA responsibilities and managing consultants leave with clinic capacity, assisting with covering on call rota's and any other duties to support the operational function of the service as required.


To provide leadership and take responsibility for the daily line management and supervision of administrative staff, including the monitoring of performance, sickness and annual leave.

This may involve carrying out HR investigations under supervision.


To manage the workload of the administrative staff, ensuring all administrative tasks are completed to the desired standard and within agreed local and National targets.


To monitor the management of patient pathways in conjunction with the Access and Performance Manager, supporting adherence to both local and National performance targets.

To have responsibility for the management of devolved budgets and participate in delivering Cost Improvement programmes
