Part time Payroll Administrator (25 hours per week)
Letchworth Garden City

£30,000 pro rata

Based in the HR team of this superb employer in Letchworth, this is a crucial role within the business. You will be the system super-user and responsible for system queries and ongoing development.


Ideally you will be an experienced Payroll professional who knows Payroll systems, how they work and potentially how to trouble shoot any issues.

You will also have excellent excel skills and be confident in manipulating data where needed.

The role is working alongside an experienced Payroll Manager and is offered as a 25 hour per week role. Ideally across 5 days.


Main Objective of the Role:


  • Provide each Employee with an accurate salary payment on the Company Pay Date, ensuring all Statutory Liabilities are achieved.
  • Offering a service to all employees on an understanding and guidance of payroll issues and taxation.
  • To provide the Company with accurate payrolls and reconciliations.
  • To comply with all statutory requirements within deadlines ensuring there are no penalties for inaccuracies or late payments or late submissions of monthly RTI, AE and End of Tax Year Documents.
  • To provide information and support to all levels of Management.
  • Give information and guidance to employees.
  • Ensure that Best Practice procedures are implemented.

Key Areas:


  • Responsible for the production of the Monthly Payroll for Group Employees.
  • Ensure all data is authentic and processed within tight deadlines including Starters, leavers, variable permanent and temporary data.
  • Full checking process to be maintained.
  • Responsible for all correct parameters and components to be in place at new Tax Year and Budget amendments.
  • Produce monthly payroll reconciliations and journals to the Management Accountants to assist with the accurate production of the monthly accounts also providing advice and information on payroll issues as and when required.
  • Informing Employees wherever possible on taxation matters, guiding them to find the best solutions possible to any given situation by keeping an accurate personal knowledge of legislation and best practices.
  • Maintaining Occupational Sick, SSP, SMP and SPP records, implementing payments and deductions as required.
  • Ensuring remittances are accurately paid to HMRC, County Court, CSA within constricted deadlines.
  • Ensure HMRC legislation of monthly RTI report and the annual P60, P11d documents are produced and submitted within strict deadlines.
