Client Summary:
My client is a rail Transport Operating Company, seeking an electrically biased Site Services/Facilities Engineer to join their team, within their fleet maintenance depot in Derby.
With over 2500 employees within the company and various sites across the Rail Network, this role gives ample opportunity for development and growth within the business.
Position SummaryThis position requires an experienced electrically qualified plant Engineer to work within an active railway depot.
This work will include:
- Ensuring that the businesscritical systems remain fully operational, to allow the delivery of essential services to the rail network.
- Undertaking planned maintenance of various plant and equipment
- Engaging in reactive maintenance and faultfinding works upon the plant and equipment upon site.
- Working on small projects and installation works, including testing.
- Making safe the systems, where an immediate repair can not be immediately completed.
- Completing other general maintenance tasks as and when required
- Assisting the productions teams where necessary.
The planned maintenance will include dealing with items such as: pumping systems, macerators, compressors, powered plant, lifting equipment, roller shutter doors, PLC control systems and general electrical systems - lighting/power etc.
General repairs can includeanything present on site including hard and soft facilities i.e. Fencing, walkways, battery chargers, furniture etc.What this position can offer is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy environment where no two days will ever be the same.
Person Profile/Experience:
- Previous rail depot experience would be an advantage
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, military or similar would be essential
- 3+ years experience in a similar position, working in a heavy industry environment.
- Good knowledge/experience of electrical fault finding.
- Electrically qualified and able to test.
- Able to work calmly under pressure and think quickly.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Flexible working approach and able to work well in a team, potentially the need may arise to assist with callout demands or support with overtime.
Qualifications:
Electrical qualification, in Electrical installation, engineering or maintenance, or relevant electrical work experience, preferably from a time-served apprenticeship programme.
Ideally the person may already hold a valid Safety Critical Medical and Personal Trackside Safety certification.
