Apprenticeship position at Great Kingshill C of E Primary School
Great Kingshill CE Combined School is a large primary school just outside High Wycombe. Our school is built on the foundations of kindness, respect and always doing our best.

Apprenticeship overview:


  • Wage: £6.40 an hour


  • Working week: Monday

  • Friday (Term time only)
  • Total hours per week: 30 hours a week, 8:30am till 3:30pm
  • Expected duration: 16 months
  • Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship standard qualification
  • Online apprenticeship course work supported by our talented tutors

Brief overview of this role:


Work with our administration team to provide a warm and professional welcome to our school both in person and over the phone.

Provide clerical support under the guidance of our Office Manager. Maintain accurate and effective records for all children, ensuring confidentiality at all times.


Full vacancy description:

Reception:


  • Undertake reception duties including response to telephone and personal enquiries, providing a warm welcome to all visitors and colleagues, adopting a friendly, professional manner
  • To ensure school security and safeguarding arrangements are always complied with, including the issue of visitor badges, signing of the visitor book and checking identification
  • To issue visitors with the school safeguarding guidance
  • To accept and sign for deliveries, respecting the confidential nature of external testing materials
  • To provide hospitality for visitors to the school and organise refreshments for school events

Clerical:


  • Ensure that systems and procedures are developed and maintained in order that clerical services can be provided in an efficient and costeffective way.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the smooth management of lunch orders and payments, liaising with lunch provider as necessary.
  • Undertake wordprocessing, Excel and other IT based tasks
  • Carry out routine administrative tasks, including the collection of money and the completion of records and registers in accordance with school policy
  • Organise and manage running of extracurricular clubs
  • Manage the photocopier and ensure it remains in good working order
  • Support class teachers with writing letters and communication to parents
  • Support the management of the school diary, ensuring that necessary arrangements for events take place
  • Liaise with school uniform provider to ensure service continues to fulfil requirements

Pupil welfare:


  • Administer First Aid and medicine to pupils as required, in keeping with the school policy and order first aid supplies as necessary
  • Liaise with parents/carers regarding pupil sickness or injury (if required)
  • Maintenance of appropriate student medical records and care plans
  • Provide assistance to students with acute or chronic illnesses
  • Promotion of both physical and mental health
  • Be on duty at break and lunchtime

General:


  • To provide lunch cover as required
  • To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role for health and safety in the workplace
  • To maintain total confidentiality in all matters relating to school
  • Act in accordance with the school's policies and procedures for Safeguarding and Child Protection, reporting any child protection concerns immediately to the designated person
  • To contribute to the overall ethos/work aims of the school
  • Comply with all relevant legislation and school policies
