Division info:


The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.


Summary of position:

The Buyer primary purpose is to ensure effective and efficient flow of goods and sub-contract services into Héroux Devtek.

The Buyer will also develop long-term improvements in Quality, Cost and Delivery performance whilst maintaining good customer-supplier relationships, and where appropriate introduce Long Term Supplier Agreements


Main responsibilities:


  • Accountable for the execution of the direct Commodity Strategy

Team working:

develop positive relationships with direct purchasing and other HD functions.

Data/Information Management:

manage and maintain the ERP (INFOR LN) accuracy including all information relating to the Indirect Commodity, suppliers, lead-times, pricing, stock records, delivery dates

Supplier Relationships:

to manage all supplier relationships and contracts, utilising other functions as appropriate.

Cost Management:

responsible for ensuring commercial negotiations are carried out in line with Commodity Strategy. Conduct longer term cost planning based on commodity strategy and external market trends.

Cost Control:

develop and deploy an integrated approach to a wide range of Purchasing-related cost reduction activities, Develops and deploys a robust cost management system in conjunction with the Finance Team.

Quality:

accountable for quality performance of assigned commodities, in conjunction with the Quality departments.

Delivery:

accountable for delivery performance of assigned commodity

  • Must be cost / commercially aware in indirect commodity
  • Implementation and maintenance of LTAs
  • Monthly communication to all indirect suppliers with respect to performance
  • Quarterly reviews with key suppliers
  • Minimise number of vendors whilst maintaining cost control.
  • Work with Quality department to ensure that all vendors have appropriate quality systems and regular auditing is completed through prioritization based on spend and risk

Qualifications:


  • Experience in a Supply Chain function (Direct commodity experience)
  • Has a proven track record in delivering results in favourable and unfavourable conditions.
  • Experience in strategic planning and industry analysis at commodity level.
  • Experience in Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Experienced user on an ERP system's Supply Chain functionality.
  • Team Leader qualification e.g. CIPS or Degree qualified
  • MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and other software as appropriate.

changing demands.

  • Strong team-working skills with the ability to complete tasks on time.
  • Good attention to detail with a methodical approach to tasks to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures and escalate where appropriate.
  • Ideally educated to degree level and also fully CIPS qualified (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a Materials Management or similar environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Driven, with a will to develop new skills and progress within the Company
  • Full driving licence
