Description

Payroll & HR Officer required to work for a local school in Cheadle. The hours are part time, 20 hours per week, all year round. The role would involve working specifically within the Finance Team to support the Schools Finance, HR and payroll functions.

This exciting position would suit an experienced payroll officer who is self-motivated and proactive, with excellent communication skills and who has great attention to detail.



What will you be doing as a Payroll & HR Officer?:

  • End to end payroll processing; including new employees, leavers, salary amendments, calculations for SMP, SPL, SPP, SSP, pensions
  • Assisting the Head of HR and Bursar with salary calculations
  • Calculate and input any variable pay data e.g., additional hours / overtime
  • Liaising with the Bursar and Assistant Bursar for the monthly payroll process
  • Producing variance reports and internal payroll reports for review and authorisation
  • Promoting the relationship with the schools payroll provider, including managing and implementing any updates
  • Ensuring the payroll database is accurate and developing the digitisation of certain HR and payroll functions, including online timesheets, workflows, work rotas, recording leave
  • Administer the timesheets and manage the payroll for before and after school care staff and holiday club staff
  • Benefit administration, including any salary sacrifice schemes which the school may operate
  • Ensuring that all payroll changes are authorised in accordance with internal authorisation procedures and that all documentation is accurately filed and recorded in readiness to support the finance team with external audits
  • Keep up to date of developments in legislation surrounding payroll, HR, pension, and benefits
  • Accountable for the management of year end process and producing P60s, P11Ds, and benefit statements. Implementing mass salary changes through the annual salary review process and supporting the Head of HR with the production of annual salary review letters
  • Assisting the Head of HR to update and distribute internal salary and contract variations
  • Ensuring compliance with auto enrolment, issuing pension letters, managing pension changes and opt outs on the payroll system
  • Maintenance, reconciliation and returns for Teachers Pensions
  • Assisting in issuing/checking employment contracts
  • Assisting the Head of HR with recruitment processes
  • Dealing with general payroll queries and related correspondence
  • Supporting the Head of HR with any additional HR administration requirements

We would LOVE to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of managing, processing and administering payroll
  • Previous experience of HR administration is preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as data protection and employment law would an advantage
  • IT literate, advanced Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel and Word)
  • Experience of building strong effective relationships with various stakeholders
  • Responding positively to and effecting change in the workplace
  • Previous experience of working in an educational or charity/not forprofit environment would be an advantage
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Personable, welcoming, and able to deal confidently with individuals at all levels
  • Possess excellent communication skills with an eye for detail

What will you get in return for your work as a Payroll & HR Officer?:

  • 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday) all year round
- £27,594 to £34,794 (FTE) per annum, dependent upon qualifications and experience
