Band 6 Dietitians - Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT)3 Full time - Permanent posts (37.5 hours per week) - Diabetes, Gastroenterology and Acute Medicine/Respiratory.
We have a brand-new state-of-the-art hospital and are looking for staff to work in exciting MDT teams.
If you are interested in diabetes, gastroenterology or acute medicine/respiratory, we are looking for band 6 dietitians in all these areas.
You will be supported by a team lead and will be part of a team in each specialist area.Dietetics is provided to inpatients and outpatients, and you may also be required to work on any of the LUHFT sites, if needed, which includes Aintree Hospital and other out of hospital locations/satellite units.
While these posts are currently being offered for each area, there may be the opportunity to rotate as posts become vacant in the future.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, a practical, forward thinking approach to service development and evaluation and the ability to work as part of a large team.
Good communication skills are essential and clinically, you will provide dietetic service to inpatients and outpatients
Collect medical, social, biochemical and pharmacological information
Undertake nutritional and dietary assessments
Devise and agree nutritional care plan through good communication skills, focussing on being patient centred at all times
Work alongside other health care professionals on care plans
Monitor progress
Effective communication skills to provide nutrition and dietetic advice to individuals and groups; ensuring technical information is given in a way they can understand
Maintain good clinical standards in record keeping and in written communication
Use counselling skills to assess motivation and overcome barriers to change
Liaise with caterers and other staff to ensure provision of suitable meals and snacks for patients
Attend ward rounds/case conferences and ward meetings
Undertake supervision of student dietitians
Plan and prioritise own caseload

Clinical
Provide dietetic service to in-patients and outpatients treated in the specialism.
For each patient, collect all relevant medical, social, biochemical and pharmacological information required to inform practice.
Undertake nutritional assessment using weight, height, mid-upper arm circumference and skin-fold measurements as required.
Undertake dietary assessment, estimating intake of macro and micronutrients as appropriate.
Using all information gathered devise and agree with patient and or carer a nutritional care plan.
Inform all relevant health care professionals of main aims and objectives of nutritional care plan by completing relevant documents or writing in patients case sheets.
Monitor progress on the nutritional care plan according to local standards, amending as necessary to ensure improvement in health is achieved.
Establish and maintain effective communication when giving nutrition and dietetic advice to individuals and in groups; to ensure technical information is given in a way they can understand.
Where appropriate use counselling skills to assess motivation and overcome barriers to change.
Liaise with contract caterers and other relevant staff to ensure provision of suitable meals and snacks for patients.
Attend ward rounds, case conferences and ward meetings to reinforce role of nutrition in patient care and of dietitian in the M.D.
Undertake as required supervision of student dietitians.
Liaise with colleagues in primary care, referring patients as necessary, to ensure continuity of care.
