Kneesworth House is situated in Cambridgeshire (on the borders of Hertfordshire) with good commuting access to / from London.

The hospital offers a full pathway of care including Acute, PICU, Medium, Low Secure, Locked Rehabilitation and Open Recovery wards situated across the site.

We have opportunities for Occupational Therapy Assistants to join our established Occupational Therapy Service at Kneesworth House Hospital.


The Occupational Therapy Service offers therapeutic activities that are meaningful to each individual to support service users to maintain or develop new skills to promote recovery & well being.


Under the supervision and guidance from an Occupational Therapist you will be actively involved in planning & implementing therapeutic activities and interventions for service users based on their interests, strengths and skills for living they might need to develop or restore.


This may be 1:1 or groupwork sessions:
on ward, off ward within the Occupational Therapy resource areas on site & within the community.

The Occupational Therapy Service offers hospital wide opportunities including the Hospital Shop, Library, Café,

Vocational Sessions:
Animal Care, Horticulture, DIY, Work Opportunity Roles.


Your role will involve creatively engaging service users & ability to adapt activities for the individuals to enhance service user experience, being compassionate to service user needs, flexibility & resilience for working with service users presenting with varying degrees of mental health difficulties.

Good communication skills are required both verbal and written - computer skills for maintaining clinical records of service user engagement.

Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.


Activities and interventions may include:

supporting service users with cooking a meal, using a washing machine, reading a bus timetable, exploring leisure activities - art and craft sessions/music/ gardening, sports and fitness, social activities, promoting independent leisure skills, supporting service users to attend vocational and work opportunity roles.

Experience in a healthcare setting desirable for role.
