About this job role


This role sits within the Mobile Engineering team and focuses on building, and delivering customer propositions on our mobile stack (including OCS, Excalibur, AMR & Nexus).

The role holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring the EE mobile brand says No.

1 in the UK by making sure all new price plans and products are built on time, to a high quality and at a low cost.


The role holder will work closely with Products and Marketing teams to create high-quality requirements and designs that will be delivered by our partner organisations.

The role holder will also assure and validate the designs and test results from our partners from both a technical and commercial perspective.


Main responsibilities

  • To provide the project delivery community with consultancy, enabling cost effective and timely delivery of solutions from outsourced IT Managed Service Partners.
  • To maintain technical ownership (while ensuring the integrity) of the systems within your domain by monitoring and guiding both the high level and detailed design activity undertaken by partners and internal teams.
  • To provide a technical escalation point for project delivery issues across numerous distributed services provided by key partners and internal teams.
  • Advise and guide Partner Management and Sourcing in performing benchmark exercises validating partners against the open market.

Main experiences/skills required

  • Sound technical knowledge, beyond the organisation, with strong commercial acumen
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills, a methodical and structured approach, good documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Indepth understanding of the customer impacts of domain functions
  • Demonstrates the ability to make, and take responsibility for sound decisions on technical issues within a commercial framework.
  • Experience in high profile design roles in the telecommunications sector.
  • Proven experience of delivering complex technical solutions in a diverse environment
  • Experience of managing relationships with software partners and thirdparty development partners, of product/package selection, and of delivering those products into a production environment
