You will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of consultants, colposcopists, doctors and nurses in the Colposcopy Unit at Royal Preston Hospital, providing expertise management of the patient pathway from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire process is managed smoothly.

We currently have 2 part time positions (30 hours and 15 hours)

You will be responsible for the day to day co-ordination of the Colposcopy Service.


Providing administration and secretarial support, with particular responsibility for ensuring a complete and accurate patient activity data is collated and entered onto the Colposcopy Database System Compuscope/ Masey in a timely manner.

You will work as part of a small team, and ensure that relevant national and local targets are met. The post involves dealing with patient information and therefore is of the utmost importance.


You will ensure the provision of a high quality service for both patients and clinical staff by being approachable, knowledgeable and patient focused.

You will be part of an amazing a team, who put patient care at the forefront of everything they do.

You will take responsibility for your own workload, managing referrals, clinic pack, appointments and many other administration duties:

  • Manage referrals for e-referral system.
  • Manage referrals directly referred from the cervical
screening laboratory.

  • To ensure that all data is processed correctly and that
breaches never occur.

  • To identify potential problems with the ereferral system or
direct referral pathway, resolving any issues in a timely
manner.

  • Register all patients attending the Colposcopy Clinic on the
colposcopy database, ensuring compliance with the Data
Protection Act.

  • Process all appointments on the Colposcopy database and
ensure clinics are reflective within the required timescale.

  • To ensure clinic packs are available for clinics and up to
date. Provide any briefing for the day's activity.

  • Ensure clinic lists are available for clinics.
  • Organise MDT & Quarterly CSPL meetings, and minute
taking as and when required.

  • Provide support when other team members are absent.
  • Use databases and computer packages where appropriate
(Compuscope, Masey, Prescribe, Medspeech, Quadramed,
Evlove, ALMA) In-house training will be provided for
specialised software systems.

  • Monitor DNAs within the clinic and implement processes for
the reduction of these.

  • Respond to patient enquiries by telephone or letter, passing
on messages to the relevant clinician.

  • Pursue, collate and file pathology results, referring to
medical staff for appropriate action to be taken.

  • Ensure that there is adequate cover for the Colposcopy
Clinics. Liaising with senior Colposcopist.

  • Coordinate meetings at the request of the speciality.
This occasionally requires arranging venues and
refreshments for off-site meetings.
