It is one of the biggest cheese suppliers of foodservice and food manufacturing within the UK and export their product to over 55 countries worldwide.

With both domestic and international business, the company continues to grow and is looking to expand their team.


Role Specific:


What will I be doing?


As the Head of People, you will take a leading role in our long-term commitment to making improvements to implement the Prima values and company culture as well as supporting, coaching and guiding managers in their communication, feedback, recognition and interaction with employees.


You will manage the current HR Team which includes the HR Officer and HR Assistant and develop a calendar of events to engage, support our own people, attract potential recruits and promote our values at job fayres, college and school open days.

As the HR Department head, you will be prominent in defining and developing our strategy towards Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; ensuring our working practices support a diverse and inclusive environment.


Responsibilities:


  • Working closely with the Management Team and the HR Team to deliver training design and training delivery to the business.
  • Create a suite of learning options for all employees from initial induction to expand and develop talent and skills at all levels within the business in line with policies and procedures.
  • Manage the development process for apprentices, including effective relationships with apprenticeship/training providers.
  • Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer/employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale, engagement and motivation.
  • Deal with more complex HR queries including advising on policies and procedure; developing, implementing and updating when necessary to comply with UK employment law and good practice. Manage more complex grievances, disciplinary and performance issues as they arise.
  • Oversee the onboarding process to ensure every new recruit has a quality, thorough and informative induction, in line with the Prima values.
  • There will be a BIG focus on people, skills and development

What are we looking for?

  • CIPD Level 7 Qualified
  • Seasoned HR Generalist
  • Experience of managing a HR team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Knowledge of uptodate industry best practice.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, with proven influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.


  • Strong IT skills

  • Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint.
  • Excellent decision making and problemsolving skills.


  • Desirable

  • Experience in the food manufacturing sector.
