Job Introduction

We're looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and motivated Library Volunteer Coordinator to join our team at Milton Keynes City Council Libraries.

You'll recruit, train and manage the library services volunteers across all our sites.


This is a part time role working 15 hours per week pro rata and is based at Central Milton Keynes Library.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, and development of the library volunteers across the service to ensure high standards of customer care.
  • Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service provision within the library service by keeping up to date with legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical reports.
  • Identify and implement ways to recruit new volunteers
  • GCSE maths and English A-C grade or relevant experience to demonstrate adequate levels of literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience in frontline working and customer care service in private or public sector.
  • Good communication skills for customers and staff, written and oral.
  • Experience working with volunteers, would be an advantage.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm and helpful manner.
