Applications are invited for the role of Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to commence as soon as possible for a fixed term period of at least 6 months.

The post is primarily based at Burnley General Hospital There is an on call commitment on the 2nd on call rota which has a 1 in 9 frequency, this is a full shift rota including blocks of nights.

The Lancashire Womens & Newborn Centre is located on the Burnley General site and we provide satellite clinics across East Lancashire to ensure ease of access for the local population.

We provide a full range of clinics in both obstetrics and gynaecology and all members of the team have a sub speciality interest.

We have an outstanding reputation as a training unit.

The post is based at Burnley General Hospital and the post holder will be required to take part in the on-call rota.

General Obstetric & Gynaecology duties which will include antenatal clinics, Gynae clinics, assisting in obstetric/Gynae theatre lists and labour ward/ Maternal assessment unit duties.

You will also have the opportunity to attend special interest clinics

The post is classed as non training grade but the department is fully committed to provide equivalent level of training to the post holder with a named clinical supervisor and regular appraisals.

There is great opportunity to be involved with departmental audit and research projects. You will gain excellent clinical experience and have the opportunity to further your skills and attend theatres.

The Gynaecology teams at all levels are highly skilled and motivated with a commitment to deliver continual improvements, responding in a timely manner to national and local guidelines.

We have a proven Governance (Quality) record which includes the recognition of NHSLA Level 3 (Quality standards) for our Services and delivery in accordance with standards set by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) across all our Specialties.

We require a hard working dynamic doctor who works well within the wider team of doctors, midwives, specialist nurses and allied health professionals.

Gynaecology duties include care of in-patients, admissions to the Gynaecology Ward, perioperative care of patients and out-patient clinics (including specialist clinics oncology, urogynaecology, colposcopy, and Office Gynae clinics).

The Outpatients and Theatre sessions offer an ideal opportunity for teaching on a one-to-one basis and all consultants are keen to participate in what they consider an important part of their workload.

It is essential that you are computer literate and have excellent communication skills. All staff are encouraged to play an active role in audit
