Are you looking a role where you can utilise your Financial Management skills and build relationships with a huge range of people?
Applications are invited for the Head of Finance in Disclosure Scotland. The post is based in Pacific Quay in Glasgow. It offers the opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of a delivery focused revenue generating organisation.

The Head of Finance is responsible for financial planning and management for Disclosure Scotland.

This includes advising the Disclosure Scotlands Strategic Board and supporting the Chief Executive in his Accountable Officer role while ensuring that robust arrangements are in place for accurate financial management and reporting.


The role involves working closely with colleagues in the Scottish Government Finance Directorate and Disclosure Scotland's Head of Strategic Finance; building and maintaining excellent working relationships and communication arrangements with them.

Understanding the needs of the business while having the ability to connect with and support the corporate financial landscape will be essential in this role.


The Finance Team, which consists of this post, 2 Financial Accountants, 1 Trainee Accountant and a Finance Assistant forms part of Disclosure Scotland's Finance Team and is responsible for financial management, budget planning and analysis for Disclosure Scotland.


Job description:


  • Providing professional technical accounting and budgeting advice, analysis and scrutiny of financial proposals to support business areas and contribute to future business strategies.
  • Preparing Disclosure Scotlands annual accounts in accordance with the FReM and other accounting guidelines and regulations.
  • Completing the associated Scottish Government Consolidation and whole of Government Accounts packs.
  • You will liaise with Audit Scotland and Internal Audit, on both annual accounts and activity audits, throughout year, and provide comments and management responses on draft audit reports. Advise the Chief Executive as Accountable Officer on any responses required to audit reports.
  • Presenting complex financial information clearly both verbally and in writing to support organisational decisionmaking. Additionally the post holder will advise on financial implications of policy developments within Scottish Government and, on specific issues, from other Government Departments (e.g. Home Office).

Person specification:


Essential Criteria

  • As a current member of a CCAB professional accountancy body, with up to date CPD, you will have relevant technical skills and direct experience of current central government accounting and budgeting practices.
  • You will have the ability to present and communicate technical advice and information to specialist and non-specialist staff in a clear and concise manner and use your professional expertise to support policy development and strategic planning.
  • Experience preparing annual accounts and working closely with internal and/or external audit.
  • A track record in leading and managing teams to deliver a range of finance and/or management functions. Demonstrating effective leadership and delegation skills and the ability to develop and motivate staff.
