We're looking for an individual with relevant technical knowledge and experience to be involved in a full range of Flood and Coastal Risk Management work in the Flood Resilience Team in Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire Area.


  • As a Flood Resilience Officer you'll work as part of a team to shape and deliver the work that we do with a wide range of customers in terms of warning and informing communities at flood risk. Your role will include supporting the delivery of our Warning and Informing role, validation of our warnings post incident, as well as improving the warnings we issue to the public.
  • You will be responsible for managing a variety of Flood Resilience data and information and for some liaison with partners and customers, such as Local Authorities, Emergency Planning Officers, Local Resilience Forum Partners and members of the public.
  • At times you will work closely with local communities to help ensure these communities become more resilient and better able to help themselves.
  • You will also be expected to hold a standby duty role in line with your skills and experience. Progression to the FWDO role would be appropriate in this role.
The team

  • Our Flood Resilience Team ensures we are resilient and ready for incidents by:
  • maintaining our flood warning systems;
- training and supporting incident staff;
- working with communities at risk from flooding, providing advice on what to do before, during and after flooding; and
- working with our professional partners to ensure we all pull together for the best response.

Experience/skills required

  • You will be able to demonstrate:
  • awareness of the flood warning and incident management services, and of the systems and teams that support them;
- good organisational skills
- attention to detail in delivering high work standards
- a proven track record in successfully planning, monitoring and completing technical tasks;
- the ability to work under pressure, flexibly and at pace;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills which allow you to influence and engage with a varied audience, being able to explain technical information clearly;
- a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and tackling the climate emergency through your work.
- experience using GIS is desirable

  • Interviews will take place week commencing 14th November either in Lincoln or virtually. They will include a capability based interview and a technical exercise related to flood warnings and incident management.
  • Location. Either in Lincoln or Kettering. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
  • We will continue to support flexible working arrangements where possible.
