As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have several exciting positions available right now, including an IPT Lead, based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands

Be responsible for managing/delivering Engineering Technology Development, Certification, and In-service activities within the assigned Projects.

As the single point of contact for all engineering project activities, you will work closely with the Chief Engineer, Functional Team, and Programme Managers to develop and deliver programs that are compliant, on time and within target costs.

You will interface with customers and ensure that deliverables are achieved on time, to target cost to quality standards. You will also interface with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and Manufacturing to provide engineering support for production issues.


The IPT Lead is accountable for all aspects of his/her assigned project to deliver a compliant/qualified system on time and to budget.


Typical areas of significance include:

Project Management

  • Establish, review and approve project plans to ensure that all engineering resources and deliverables are defined.
  • Monitoring projects and ensuring schedule, cost adherence and engineering deliverables with respect to technical issues
  • Jointly with the associated Project Manager, maintain the financial and resource forecasts for the project(s)
  • Financial performance
  • Establish engineering project forecasts for resource and spend to support annual budget allocation.

Risk

  • Ensuring that technical risk is captured, reviewed, and managed, such that mitigation plans are laid down and proactively worked with regular reviews to support project plans.

Communication

  • Coordination of the Project Team through regular start up meetings
  • Flow down communication from Senior Management to engineering staff
  • Upward conduit of feedback from engineering staff to senior management
  • Effective and timely reporting of project status
  • Deployment of 'visible management' philosophy

People

  • Leading a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Allocation and management of project tasks set to team members.
  • Working with the Engineering Manager to facilitate staff development, through mentorship of team members.

Compliance

  • Adherence to engineering process
  • Engineering the product to specification, ensuring that all technical requirements relating to Specification Compliance and Product Integrity are met (including statutory, legal, and ethical requirements).
  • Monitoring and controlling product cost to meet agreed targets.

Problem Resolution

  • Monitor performance, risks and issues associated with project progress to plan.
  • Identify and implement solutions to ensure on time execution.
  • Monitoring of issues related to in service use of project equipment and timely implementation of any corrective actions required.
  • Progression and resolution of FRACA issues raised within the team.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership for all aspects of specific project(s) assigned to them, working with:
  • The Site Lead and Project Manager(s) ensuring projects are properly managed to achieve project delivery in accordance with project plans.
  • The Program Chief Engineer and Specialists to ensure that engineering integrity is achieved, engineering procedures are complied with and that product strategies are in place to provide discriminating technologies for future products.
  • The Engineers in the Team to ensure that lessons learnt are addressed and a robust troublefree product is developed.
  • Manage the engineering team and ensure engineering project plans are developed, maintained and throughout all phases of the program.
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, supply chain, operations, and quality to deliver the engineering from technology
