Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Newcastle.
We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Arboriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Professional Tree Surgery, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness and Uniformed Public Services.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, learner focused and inspirational high needs entry level land based, (animal care/ agriculture), lecturer to join the inclusive learning department at the York Campus.
You will specialise in delivering theory knowledge and practical skills of animal care to our high needs learners in order to progress.
You will work closely with the curriculum team to drive forward quality and ensure high standards within all elements of the study programme and the needs of learners are achieved.
Key Tasks / responsibilities:
All tasks to be carried out in a consistent manner with the corporation's culture.
Leadership & Management
Lead and manage an agreed course/s (if required)
Manage full compliance regarding all elements of the Study Programme to meet student satisfaction and progression and that these are monitored and reviewed via Pro-Monitor and quality assurance/audits.
Manage effective implementation of the College quality management system and quality review schedule within the department via moderation processes and ensure standardisation is effective within your department and liaise with awarding bodies and external verifiers, moderators and examiners as appropriate.
To deal with general student recruitment enquiries as required.
Deal with immediate student issues.
Undertake the responsibility of internal verification for agreed courses.
Support with the management of department budgets.
Support with the organisation of enrolment events, interview evenings, parent evenings, taster events, open events and others marketing events as required.
Represent the department internally and externally and develop and facilitate strong links with partner schools, Higher Education Institutions, other educational organisations and employers.
Plan, prepare and teach agreed contact hours for the academic year commencing from to a high standard, leading by example.
Be instrumental in the implementation of the TLA policy.
Support Teaching, Learning & Assessment and Teacher Education Manager with high quality teaching and curriculum management within the department, to meet the needs of all learners.
Role Dimensions
Participate in professional development activities as required.
Support the department in the planning and preparation of cross-college events and other marketing activities.
Key Interfaces
Liaison with students and parents.
Curriculum Area manager/ Curriculum area manager and administrator within the department.
Other central College teams, e.g. Quality, MIS, Marketing, Student Services, Estates, HR, IT and Finance.
Employers - work closely with employers to ensure the curriculum reflects their needs and also that placement/career progression opportunities are provided for learners.
