We are looking for a Field Safety Advisor to join our busy team
As a Field Safety Advisor you will be responsible for assisting the Lead Occupational Safety Advisor in safety related advice and support to the business and for ensuring projects delivered within their remit reduce risk and improve governance.
Predominately field based this position offers the opportunity to drive safety standards and performance through interaction on site in areas where we can make the most impact.
You will actively promote and carry out site SHE audits and inspections and work closely with the Lead Occupational Safety Advisor and Framework Partners to implement SHE improvement initiatives in relation to findings and related actions arising from compliance and assurance activities.
Roles & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Working closely with the Lead Occupational Safety Advisor helping to ensure supporting managers address business risk by promoting a practical understanding across all safety processes (e.g. safe management of work including Construction Design and Management, Working at Height, Contractor Management, Confined Spaces, managing Asbestos, Driving, Lifting Plans etc).
- Liaise as required with other Occupational Health managers to ensure coordination and cooperation regarding the health aspects which interface with occupational safety and health.
- Working with the Lead Occupational Safety Advisor to deliver the Safety Family requirements in line with the SSE Safety Family Program, ensuring this is delivered in a clear, consistent, and frequent way including working with Preferred/ Strategic Contractors to develop stronger, safer and respectful relationships on site.
- Assisting in providing effective technical support to the business for the management of serious incidents including dangerous occurrences and near hits.
- Assisting in escalating incidents in line with the escalation process and ensure incidents are recorded, reviewed, communicated, and reported at the appropriate levels.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Knowledge and experience of high-risk operational activities (Civils, overhead, underground and substation) on transmission/ distribution networks.
- Proven track record of working closely with Framework Partners.
- Ability to challenge and effect change on site under sometimes challenging conditions.
- Working knowledge of current UK safety legislation that impacts the Networks Business.
- Experience working with safety management system policies and strategies within an asset intensive engineering environment.
