We have an opportunity for a capable and experienced HR practitioner to join our team in supporting and coordinating the development and implementation of HR policies and project initiatives at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH).

You will work closely with the HR Operations team, wider People Function and colleagues across the Trust to support policy and project implementation, in addition to providing advisory support to employee relations matters and cases on occasions when required.


We are going through change and transformation in the Function and Trust and on a journey to embed a Just and Restorative culture in our policies and processes.

Having an understanding of policy development and project management principles will be helpful, however support is available.

Main duties of the job


As a HR Advisor for Policies and Projects, you will support the lifecycle of policy development including the review, development, consultation and approval of a framework of HR policies and guidance that promotes organisational, system and national objectives that meet the demands of our changing environment and priorities.


Use your HR knowledge and research skills to support the team in ensuring HR principles and policies reflect best practice, our values, core behaviours, are legally compliant, non-discriminatory and reviewed on a regular basis.


Work closely with colleagues across the People Function and other internal and external stakeholders on a range of People-related governance matters and projects.

This will also include coordinating Trust-wide communications from the People Function, utilising internal and external channels such as social media and providing initial advice in response to this as appropriate.


You will provide clear advice that supports managers and colleagues on a wide range of People-related matters, and some support to employee relations casework required.

This post is full time working office hours between Monday - Friday.

However, please have a chat with me about flexible working I would like to support you in maintaining a good work/life balance.

We may also be able to facilitate a small reduction in hours for someone to work part-time.

The team work a hybrid approach spending part of the time in office and part of the time working from home.

  • Proven recent experience within a Human Resources advisory role, including advising on terms and conditions of employment.
  • Understanding of key employment legislation existing and prospective
