About the role:

Assist with the management of a statutory registration service on behalf of the service

Deliver a prompt and professional registration and ceremonies service in the area and across the County as a whole

To provide management support to the team in the absence of the local area manager


Key Accountabilities

  • Register births, still births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships, carry out all related duties and responsibilities in compliance with the Registration Acts.
  • Deputise for the Local Area Manager as required to manage staff, diaries and rotas including any necessary administrative duties to ensure the effective management of work within the office
  • Attest advance/routine notices of marriage/civil partnerships, register or conduct statutory and nonstatutory ceremonies at registration offices, religious buildings and approved premises.
  • Carry out 'nominated office' activities regarding birth/deaths declarations, reregistrations, inquest cases and general nonroutine enquiries.
  • Account for all fee income taken and assist in the production of monthly and annual returns in according with the councils financial procedures

Skills and Experience

  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent
  • Delivering face to face customerfocused services
  • Undertaking general administrative duties in an office environment
  • Experience of working in the Registration Service
  • Communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to provide leadership skills
  • High level of customer care skills
  • Commitment to effective team working
  • Understanding and knowledge of Registration

More about the role:

This is a permanent 18.5 hours per week post based at Lancaster Registration Service. The working pattern will be Wednesday pm, all-day Thursday and Friday.
