We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Senior Communications and Engagement Officer in to work as part of a dynamic and supportive regional communications and engagement team in delivering an effective service to support NHS England and NHS Improvement across the South West.


The post holder will ideally have some experience of working in NHS, or other public sector communications, and will see this as an opportunity to develop and deepen their knowledge and experience.


We are looking for a comms professional who is willing to turn their hand to any challenge, and in return we aim to ensure everyone in the team gets a thorough grounding in all the things we do at region.

We are a tight knit, mutually supportive team with very little interest in hierarchy, we embrace flexible working, and we aim to make time working with us rewarding and fulfilling.


The role will cover a wider range of work including internal comms, campaigns, social media, media handling, working with colleagues from across health and social care in the region as we move through the pandemic and towards the creation of ICSs, Stakeholder engagement and Parliamentary requests.


As a member of the South West region communications and engagement team, the post holder will provide high quality communications and engagement advice and practical support to staff working on all aspects of their business.


The post holder will be a member of the regional communications and engagement team delivering a service to support NHS England across the South West.

All team members, regardless of their role or seniority, will have responsibility for gathering, contributing to, sharing and producing the information, intelligence and subsequent tasks required of the communications and engagement team.

At any given time an individual may have responsibilities that will be focused upon a local office as well as delivering cross-region responsibilities commissioned by the region and/or in support of national programmes of work.

In this way the communications and engagement team will replicate the regional and local responsibilities of the regional executive team.

  • Willing to participate in a regular outofhours media and emergency preparedness rota as required
