Job summary:

This is a genuinely exciting time to join the Ministry of Defence (MOD) if you want to be at the heart of real Defence issues.

You will get to work on a high profile and distinctive portfolio which is rarely out of the news and have a unique insight into the fascinating world of nuclear.

Established in April 2016, the Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) was set up to oversee all aspects of nuclear business within the MOD; responsible for all submarines (from buying them through to disposal when they reach the end of their life), nuclear warheads, skills, related infrastructure and day-to-day nuclear policy.

DNO consists of the people, equipment and infrastructure required to successfully deter the most extreme threats to our national security and way of life.

Within DNO, the Finance Directorate supports the whole spectrum of DNO via a functional operating model.

The advertised roles support the Warhead Directorate that leads the UK nuclear warhead programme which provides a stockpile of reliable, safe and effective nuclear warheads to support the UK's strategic nuclear deterrent now and in the future.

The Warhead Directorate has staff based in MOD Main Building (London), MOD Abbey Wood (Bristol), Aldermaston (Reading), HM Naval Base Clyde (Scotland) and in Washington, DC, USA.

These posts can be based in Aldermaston or Abbey Wood but please note that occasional travel to all sites will be required, along with occasional travel to a number of other sites around the country, with the possibility of overseas travel to France, the US or Australia.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
