Could you be the full-time Maintenance Assistant in Derby (Etches Park), United Kingdom we're looking for?

Your future role


We'll look to you for:

  • Working under his/her own initiative, to carry out routine maintenance, repair and basic fault finding work on the Class 222 Fleet.
  • Routine rail vehicle maintenance as per laid down Vehicle Maintenance Instruction (VMI)
  • Assist Technicians as required.
  • Operation of powered plant, lifting and mechanical handling equipment.
  • Operation of Battery Charging/Shore Supply equipment.
  • Maintenance of plant.
  • Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident free environment. Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standard at all times.
  • Required to continually look at opportunities to adopt and develop continuous improvement techniques.
  • You will be required to produce verbal and written reports on work carried out or actions taken.

  • Detailed understanding of Mechanical & Electrical proficiency to undertake Safety Critical Work (preferable competency in place) on the Class 222 fleet
  • Personal Track Safety (PTS)
  • Designated Person (where appropriate)
  • Ideally apprentice trained with a Mechanical & Electrical proficiency, the minimum qualification would be Apprentice trained or NVQ level three or the equivalent.
