In this exciting role, you will be a key member of the team who will be responsible for managing the credit risk for Personal unsecured lending.

As a Credit Strategy Manager, you will be jointly accountable with the Senior Credit Strategy Manager and Headof Personal Credit for the credit performance of the Unsecured portfolios (Credit Cards, Personal Loans, Overdrafts and Joint Ventures) across the credit life cycle (acquisition, account management and collections).

Day to day you'll
Use your experience and expert judgement in the design and setting of appropriate acquisition and account management strategies for the unsecured portfolios, ensuring they adhere to the Risk Appetite Statements and applicable regulations whilst allowingsafe, profitable unsecured lending growth


Including:

  • Acquisition, affordability riskbased pricing and limit allocation strategies across Credit Cards, Loans and Personal Overdrafts, including preeligibility tools.
  • Affordability, product, credit limit, pricing and authorisation strategies for account management.
  • Maintaining and developing Credit policies and procedures.
  • Support the unsecured commercial team to design improved customer journeys and products.
  • Monitoring the health of the portfolio and performance of credit strategies, regularly producing high quality reports to appropriate risk governance including Credit risk forums, Unsecured commercial meetings and Credit Risk Committees.
  • Escalating relevant points to the Head of Personal Credit, the Unsecured commercial team and the Chief Credit Officer.
  • Working closely with the wider credit team to ensure models are utilised correctly, provision forecasts are reflective of expected portfolio performance and systems, data and reporting are implemented accurately.

There are a few essentials you need to bring

  • Experience in the development of credit risk strategies, policies and procedures
  • A good understanding of Personal unsecured lending products
  • Expertise in interpreting data analytics with a tenacity to look beyond headline information to identify inconsistent trends.
  • Capacity to handle high workflows and prioritise appropriately, ensuring tasks are completed within required timeframes.
  • Experience in coaching and developing a small team of individuals
  • Excellent and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience of managing challenge and conflict
  • Experience in building trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels
  • High motivation and be able to demonstrate a professional "can do" attitude

The following would be not essential

  • Experience in setting strategic direction, understanding challenges and opportunities presented by the market and regulation.
  • A background in analytics, preferably using SAS
  • An understanding of proposition and system development.
