Description

The Department of Languages, Cultures & Film wishes to appoint to a permanent Lectureship (Teaching and Research) in French and Francophone Studies.


You will have relevant research interests in the languages, cultures and societies of the French-speaking world, combined with proven expertise in translation studies, such as interpreting, subtitling, literary translation, historical approaches to translation studies, translation and publishing, or translation in the Francophone world; preference will be given to those working in the modern and contemporary period (twentieth and twenty-first centuries).


You will enhance our undergraduate programme in French, as well as our growing research expertise in translation and interpreting, contributing to the design, development and delivery of our new MA in Translation Studies.


You will have a PhD in French and/or Francophone Studies or a relevant related discipline, and an emerging track-record of producing research and publications of international excellence, as well as evidence of, or potential for, attracting funding from research councils or other external bodies.

You will have a proven track-record of teaching at different levels of undergraduate study and have experience of enhancing the student experience.
