Description

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Hepatology and Gastroenterology out-of-hours cover rota, and to weekday emergency endoscopy and ward referral weeks at 1:12 frequency.

The latter provides an opportunity to enhance management of hepatology inpatient referrals, and endoscopic management of variceal haemorrhage.

One of the significant strengths of our department are the multiple opportunities to attend clinical and research meetings throughout the week.

Clinical meetings include liver histopathology, hepatology benign radiology, and clinical multidisciplinary meetings including the viral hepatitis, autoimmune and IgG4 MDTs.

Uniquely our department also has a weekly academic afternoon with a range of clinical and research focussed learning opportunities.

There is also a weekly journal club, which once a month makes way for an IgG4 Systemic Disease Regional MDT.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to departmental research through the management of hepatology clinical trials and other projects or audit, under appropriate guidance.

It would suit someone wishing to develop specialist expertise beyond that acquired through general hepatology training before a Consultant post (ie UK year 6 or equivalent).

The Unit is well recognised for its international diversity and the posts attract the best trainees from many areas of the world.
