Fixed term contract - 9 months (contract ends at the end of March 2024, but we would be looking to extend this if funding allows)


The Birmingham Solihull Training Hub are looking to recruit a Training Hub Coordinator to support a portfolio of projects in conjunction with a team of role specific facilitators to develop the existing primary care workforce, as well as working with GP Practices and Primary Care Networks (PCN) in the introduction of the new Additional Roles as part of the latest GP Contract requirements.


The Training Hub Coordinator will take a holistic view of the primary care workforce, ensuring that sufficient numbers of appropriately skilled and qualified people are secured through all supply routes, across all professions and at all levels.

The individual should have experience in successfully managing projects and change initiatives.


Main duties of the job
Primary Care experience is desirable but not essential.

The individual will have good oral and written communication skills and exceptional organisational and administrative skills.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Provide support to PCNs and GP practices with workforce development which will include, but not limited to, engagement regarding their workforce needs, workforce planning and analysis, assisting with recruitment campaigns, training delivery

Support practices and PCNs to introduce new and emerging roles to primary care

Support practices and PCNS with workforce planning and analysis

Assist with the Role Facilitators in supporting the primary care employers with recruitment

Identify training needs with providers through formal and informal routes

Support the TH team, which includes learning and development team and a team of multidisciplinary role facilitators, with the rollout of the deliverable outcomes


About us

This role will be required for 37.5 hours per week.

This is on a 12 month fixed term contract with the potential to be extended on successful funding being obtained.

Salary is £31,000.

Secondments would be considered.

This role may involve some home/remote working.

The post holder will work as part of the Birmingham Solihull (BSol) Training Hub team in delivering an effective and skilled primary care workforce in line with the NHS People Plan across the BSol footprint.


The post holder will support a portfolio of projects in conjunction with a team of role specific facilitators to develop the existing primary care workforce, as well as working with GP Practices and Primary Care Networks (PCN) in the introduction of the new Additional Roles as part of the latest GP Contract requirements.

The role will include working with key stakeholders across regions including, but limited to HEE, HEIs, CCG and Integrated Care System (ICS) to take a holistic view of the primary care workforce, ensuring that sufficient numbers of appropriately skilled and qualified people are secured through all supply routes, across all professions and at all levels.


Key responsibilities
The post holder will be employed by South Doc Services but working within the BSol Training Hub to deliver responsibilities as listed:

  • Provide support to PCNs and GP practices with workforce development which will include, but not limited to, engagement regarding their workforce needs, workforce planning and analysis, assisting with recruitment campaigns, training delivery
  • Support the TH team, which includes learning and development team and a team of multidisciplinary role facilitators, with the rollout of the deliverable outcomes
  • Support practices and PCNS with workforce planning and analysis
  • Support practices and PCNs to introduce new and emerging roles to primary care
  • Assist with the Role Facilitators in supporting the primary care employers with recruitment
  • Identify training needs with providers through formal and informal routes
  • Where required, assist with the delivery and management of any localised training delivery
  • Work with the primary care providers and TH to deliver a bespoke offer for their locality where applicable
  • Identify, document and manage any ongoing needs and subsequent changes regarding training and workforce development support and feedback to the TH team
  • Engage with primary care providers to identify needs or any improvements that can be made to services delivered by the TH
  • Support the TH team with delivery and reporting of KPI and TH activity
  • Identify and communicate any project risks and issues, and lessons learnt, reporting back to the TH Management team
  • Produce highlight reports as and when required
  • Adhere to organisational, local and national guidelines
