Hours: 21 Per week (Negotiable - with approximately 6 hours/week being delivered in the evenings and/or weekends. Will be discussed at interview.)

Salary:
£21,500 (Rising to £22,000 after successfully passing 6-month probationary period)

Purpose of the Post:

To provide 121 and group support to children and young people (CYP) who are affected by or at risk of Domestic Abuse, living in refuge accommodation and in the community.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist Domestic Abuse support services to Children and Young People using a personcentred approach.
  • Carry out individual risk assessments, initial needs and support assessments for CYP's to determine what level of service is appropriate, involving mothers/carers where appropriate
  • Ensure that women and children's needs are assessed regularly and support plans are in place and being adhered to.
  • Work with mothers and CYP's to promote positive parenting and to address some of the negative impact of domestic abuse on the mother/child relationship.
  • Advocate for the rights of CYP's to ensure they have access to health, education and other services they may need.
  • Build relationships based on trust and respect with all CYP's so that they feel safe and listened to.
  • Create a positive environment where CYP's can develop skills, build confidence and have their social, emotional and cognitive development enhanced.
  • Help CYP's to understand and come to terms with and understand the effects of domestic abuse, in an age appropriate way through play, group work and onetoone sessions.
  • Plan and deliver a range of creative, educational and fun interventions (including trips) that enhance selfesteem, learning and confidence.
  • Organise the storage of and use of donated toys and other CYP goods.
  • Be responsible for planning the use of the dedicated budget for CYP's.
  • Attend external multi agency meetings in relation to the wellbeing and safety of CYP's
  • Be aware of Child Protection policy and procedures and act on any concerns or information regarding the safeguarding of children.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service, inputting information into the organisations Information Management System.
  • Assist in qualitative and quantitative data collation.
  • Help new families to settle into the unfamiliar environment of the refuge.
  • Ensure the playroom and outdoor play area is kept in good order and that all equipment is safe and fit for purpose.
  • Prepare and assist CYP in the transition process from refuge to the community.
  • Deliver programmes in line with formalised delivery package (e.g. the STAR programme).
  • Deliver other ad hoc programmes/training as directed.
  • Demonstrate and promote the organisation's ethos, vision and values
  • Keep abreast of regulation changes within HR related topics, attend training, develop networks to support development in the role
  • Contribute to the protection and enhancement of the organisation's reputation
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision and appropriate training
  • Work within the Organisation's Policies and Procedures
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required as requested by your line manager

A current valid driving licence, access to a car and insurance covering business use is essential.
