About the Role:

As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will play a crucial role, ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of accounts payable transactions


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and processing invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies.
  • Conducting thorough data entry and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Preparing payments and coordinating with suppliers.
  • Assisting with monthend and yearend closing processes.

Requirements:


To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A strong background in accounting or finance.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

Duties:


  • Process accounts payable invoices and ensure accuracy of data entry
  • Review and reconcile vendor statements
  • Prepare and process weekly check runs
  • Assist with monthend closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve any payment discrepancies or issues
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Human Resources and Corporate Accounting, to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in accounts payable or related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting principles and practices
  • Familiarity with tax regulations related to accounts payable
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Types:
Full-time, Temporary contract

Contract length: 12 months


Salary:
£24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year


Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Blackburn: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

- purchase ledger: 1 year (preferred)

  • Accounts payable: 1 year (required)
