2023 is continuing to provide sustainable growth within OCU Group.

Due to this continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an Electrical/ Power Design Co-ordinator within the Power sector to be based in North-East of England, Sunderland, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear.

Your role will include co-ordination of design phase for various projects within the power section.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Possess a strong knowledge in the construction of projects such as substation construction, cabling, and overhead lines.
  • Establish records, calibration documents and check registers for all instruments on site, including subcontractor's instruments. Keep accurate records for excavations, reduce dig, concrete pours, reinforcement.
  • Record ongoing works activity and progress by undertaking daily checks of various sites, by measurement and recording information, taking photos, and using GPS/TOTAL STATION to accurately plot newly installed utility service routes and other related construction works.
  • Accurate setting out reference points as per construction /designs.
  • Create, amend, asbuild records, editing, validation, publication etc. and submission of service records.
  • Creation, preparation, and amendment of AUTOCAD technical or geographic drawings, documentation.
  • Setting up / checking / maintenance of GNSS, levels and total station equipment's.

Skills and Experience

  • A good team player who is also capable of working unsupervised on varied projects to ensure timely delivery.
  • The ability to actively support and develop other team members, ensuring technical conformity, quality assurance and safety compliance.
  • Able to take the lead on specific projects, coordinating and supervising resources proactively.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office based software, AutoCAD and a working knowledge with other specialised calculating and simulation software.
  • Be educated to degree level, HND or similar in Engineering.
  • Hold a valid UK driving license.
  • Good Client interfacing skills and experience
  • Good problemsolving skills, the ability to anticipate potential problems and overcome them effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels including directors.
