An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Radiology Administrator role to join our busy Administrative and Clerical team in the Plain Film Radiology Department at NUH.

We will require an enthusiastic and conscientious team player with excellent communication skills who will need to be well motivated and reliable.

It will be essential that the post holder can demonstrate excellent communication skills and be an organised individual, as well as work on their own initiative.

You will also need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues and respond to queries in a professional manner.

Good customer care is essential in this role.

You must be educated to GCSE level, with grade C or above in English and Maths. Computer skills are essential in this role and experience in using Microsoft Word and Outlook is necessary. Knowledge of our hospital computer systems such as Medway, DHR Unity and CRIS systems is desirable.

Main duties of the job

Taking telephone queries from patients.

Booking/amending appointments depending on the urgency of the referral.

Working on a busy reception and dealing with patients face to face.

Liaising with colleagues and clinical staff of all levels.

With a vision of "working together to be the best for patients", the Radiology Administrator will be will be required to work flexibly across all areas of the Radiology Directorate.

To provide general clerical,
administrative and reception duties, maintain service levels and work in a call centre environment.

This will include receiving and processing imaging referrals and making appointments using the Computerised Radiology Information System (CRIS) in line with Trust waiting time standards.

The post holder will answer calls from patients, external and internal referrers delivering a high standard of customer service.

You will be required to closely liaise with patients, hospital administrative and clinical staff in order to provide a prompt and quality patient focused service.

It is essential that all staff are aware of the need for flexible working arrangements, as individuals must be prepared to work in all areas of the department and on either campus when necessary to
maintain service level.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent
  • Experience in Microsoft Office
Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of hospital computer systems, i.e. Medway PAS, CRIS, NOTIS
