Job description:


Reporting to the CDIO (Chief Digital Information Office) Head of Risk, Assurance and Governance, you will lead and manage a second line of defence assurance team to build and deliver an integrated annual CDIO assurance plan.

We are looking to recruit a hardworking individual who can bring practicality, pragmatism and customer focus to reviews.

You need to be a strong influencer, a good communicator and be able to build excellent stakeholder relationships, often with senior leaders.

You will develop and maintain effective management of the Internal Audit relationship, including supporting the business to meet audit timelines and agree appropriate, achievable management actions.

Your work will impact on every department in CDIO.

You will lead assurance on governance, risk management and controls, ensuring alignment with CDIO, HMRC and HM Government policies and standards.

You will deputise for the Head of Risk, Assurance and Governance and the Risk and Governance Leads as required.

Person specification:

The Assurance Lead role manages the delivery of the annual CDIO assurance plan. We are looking for;

  • A highly motivated selfstarter who thrives on working at speed on multiple tasks at the same time in a dynamic environment.
  • Someone who can think strategically and demonstrate a clear and compelling vision for the organisation that will develop a joinedup approach, promote efficiency and motivate and enthuse others.
  • The ability to persuade and influence senior leaders to understand the importance of effective controls, good risk management, governance and assurance activity that confirms policies and controls are complied with.
  • Experience of leading, developing and motivating a team, supervising delivery of a highquality service to agreed time, quality and resource constraints.
  • Working with other assurance providers and supporting others to understand complex or technical issues.

Essential Criteria
You must have proven experience and understanding of;

  • Developing, planning and managing delivery of high quality audits or assurance work on time.
  • The three lines of defence model.
  • Risk Management and/or ITIL
  • Analysing and summarising information, using sound judgement to make recommendations that improve risk and control effectiveness.
  • Strong influencing, communication and collaboration skills including the ability to influence and communicate at a senior leader level.
