We Do Group are delighted to be supporting a local government in West London, recruiting a Pensions & Treasury Manager on a 12m FTC.


This is a key role to improve on the treasury reporting and give extra capacity while a new treasury management system is implemented.

Hybrid working
:4 days from home, 1 day in the office

Salary
:
£52,000 - £65,000 p/a


The Role

  • You'll provide strategic financial guidance and establish strong working relationships with finance colleagues and external consultants to have a significant positive impact on the delivery of the pension fund and treasury strategy
  • You'll work closely with finance colleagues and external consultants to develop a creative, detailed and insightful bigpicture approach to pension and treasury financial challenges and opportunities, acting as an advisor for financial decisions and supportingthe delivery of the pension fund and treasury strategy
  • You'll focus on forwardlooking, large scale, complex and high impact financial decisions that affect pension investments and council borrowing. You will be required to draft committee reports and support appropriate governance of the Pension Fund.
  • You'll be responsible for drafting management information to support the Section 151 officer in fulfilling their duties.
  • You will be at the heart of celebrating what the council has to offer and developing a strong, unified brand and identity a whole council, whole borough approach which galvanises communities, attracts people to the borough and makes us an influentialvoice for our residents.
  • You'll work effectively as one of the council's managers, delivering corporate objectives through the work of service departments
  • You'll act as an ambassador for the borough, promoting and developing the council's image and championing the interests of the council's community, stakeholders and partners
  • You'll demonstrate and ensure high standards of probity and compliance with council policy, standing orders and the law
  • You're a role model for effective and positive management behaviour that is outcome focused and forwardlooking
  • You'll promote equality of opportunity and the recognition of diversity in the delivery of services and in employment practices
  • You'll form effective working arrangements with members, partners, government departments, user groups, businesses and voluntary sector groups
  • You'll work as part of multidisciplinary teams to enable the breaking down of departmental barriers and delivery of transformational projects
  • You'll deputise as required for the Head of Service
  • You'll be a trusted and influential advisor on pensions and treasury, providing insight, creativity and guidance
  • You'll be a highly visible role model within the service and across the council, with your contribution supporting the organisation in meeting its goals
  • You'll maintain a high level of expertise and keep uptodate on all developments and legislative changes impacting on local government finance, including those specific to the service areas you support
  • You'll contribute to the corporate and departmental medium term service, financial planning and statutory reporting processes and associated decisionmaking for both capital and revenue
  • You'll understand and input to the development of the Financial Strategy, ensuring it informs and is informed by the services you support and positively impacts the decisions made by senior stakeholders
  • You'll bring holistic thinking and financial expertise to individual services, facilitating innovation, options appraisal and good decisionmaking regarding spend and income generation

Your Profile

  • Experienced treasury & pensions background
  • Effective communicator written & verbal
  • Problemsolving mindset
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Likely have come from a local government background
