The job itself:


A 26-year-old man, who has Autism and generalised Anxiety Disorder, is looking for a Support Worker for 20 hours a week.


Support will include (whilst not inclusive):

  • Prepare shopping lists then going out and doing the food shop on his behalf.
  • Meal cooking per day. To ensure diet is vegetarian, varied and nutritious.
  • Domestic tasks, such as washing dishes, cleaning and tidying the home, laundry, changing bedding, hoovering, dusting and other tasks as and when identified.
  • Support outside the home to complete general tasks, recognising when feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable and providing reassurance in these times. Tasks as required support with attending appointments as an example.
  • Advocacy speaking on behalf when he requires as he often finds it difficult to do this.
  • Bills and budgeting support and financial planning.
  • Ensuring clothing is appropriate for the day and encouragement with general hygiene will be required.
  • To support with engagement in hobbies and interests such as performing, photography, swimming both in the home and in the community.
  • Support may include attending Matthews Hub this will include travel to the venue in Hull (travel will be paid).


Effective communication is essential - be thoughtful and considerate in communication and actions and show a genuine interest in not only providing support, but enabling the gentleman to be as independent as possible and achieve the most he can from his support package.

Support in times of non verbal communication and discomfort will be imperative.

Mon, Tues, Wed & Fri - 1pm-4pm & Thurs 12pm

  • 8pm
However, flexibility would be required and some weekend support on occasions which would be agreed in advance

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
