About the Role

  • Supports schools with their travel plans, helping them move from bronze to gold status aided by funding from TfL and other sources where available
  • Will play an important role in handling customer interactions relating to active travel including existing and future walking and cycling schemes.
  • Chairing regular meetings and working groups to tackle issues such as bike theft
  • Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with key stakeholders both internal to the council and external such as cycle campaigners, TfL and the Police
  • Accurate and timely contributions to reports, spreadsheets, portfolio holder briefings, committee meetings etc.

About Us

  • Our role is a key and frontfacing one within the Council, as the workstreams we deal with are often those which will create a level of interest from our residents and road users. We oversee and manage the delivery of the TfL budget programmes which includes the Local Implementation Plan (LIP) programme which will include walking, cycling, school streets and low traffic schemes, as well as traditional road safety and highway schemes. There are also bus priority projects to work on and our expanding remit of behaviour change programmes looking after the EV Charging Programme, ebike opportunities and working closely with colleagues to support the delivery of the Climate Emergency and Air Quality Action plans

About You

Essential:
Strong written communication skills across a range of styles e.g. when responding to enquiries from residents and elected members and colleagues.

Project Management experience, ideally for sustainable transport projects

Able to travel to locations within and outside Kingston Borough according to the needs of the role.

Appreciate the demands on team colleagues and willingly provides support when required.


Desirable:
Understand the role and purpose of Climate Change and Active Travel agendas within a Local Authority.

Familiar with Kingston Borough and have experience of travelling in the borough by different transport modes e.g. walking, cycling, public transport etc.
