We are looking for a SEND Parent Parliament Coordinator to join our SEND Team in Islington.

The Coordinator will be pivotal in providing information to families to enable them to participate in planning commissioning and reviewing services for children with SEND.


The role may be of interest to an individual with experience and knowledge of services for families and children with SEND and an understanding of the challenges they face.

They should also want to expand their administrative skills in a busy office environment.

The Coordinator will need to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the SEND landscape along with strong interpersonal skills.

The role requires the development of mutually productive relationships with colleagues, partners, agencies and most importantly children, young people and their families.


The SEND Parent Parliament Coordinator will:

  • be the initial point of contact and co-ordinator for the SEND Parent Parliament.
- actively promote services and activities available to children and young people with SEND.
- strengthen communication and information sharing between services for children and young people with SEND and the SEND Parent Parliament.
- further develop parent participation in Islington through consultation opportunities.
- support the publishing of feedback regarding the SEND Local Offer received from children and young people with SEND and their parents.
- contribute to the continued review and improvement of the Islington SEND Local Offer website.

  • Engage with SEND Parent Parliament and key strategic decision makers to promote participation.
  • Be the main point of contact for the SEND Parent Parliament.
  • Explore and establish safe, user friendly ways of sharing information between Pupil Services and the SEND Parent Parliament.
  • Research, identify and gather local items of interest relating to special educational needs and disability.
  • Coordinate and send regular bulletins to the SEND Parent Parliament informing them of available services and other items of interest.
  • Support the development of online consultations and other opportunities to capture the views of the SEND Parent Parliament.
  • Coordinate feedback received from children and young people with SEND and their parents providing up-to-date input to the 'you said, we did' section of the SEND Local Offer website.
  • Review existing content and actively input to improvement and further development of the SEND Local Offer website.
  • Recruit new members to the SEND Parent Parliament and update the database with new records.
  • Amend / delete records when requested and maintain accurate membership information using a database.
  • Carry out any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the position as required.
