Role Overview
Astor Bannerman manufactures, supplies, installs, and services specialist bathing and lifting systems for the disabled and elderly.

We have a 25-year track record as a market leader in our field and we have the ambition to grow.


Working as part of the stores' team, the Goods In Operative is primarily responsible for overseeing the effective management of goods in.

Creating and implementing inventory control measures to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of materials, owning all stock locations, ensuring that inventory is booked-in, and stored in the correct location.


Main functions and responsibilities

  • Ensure that the goods inward / stock control department is well organised and efficient.
  • Check components quantities and supplier certificate of conformance paperwork is correct for each delivery and stock is booked in and stored in the correct location.
  • Conduct Goods receiving inspection, including the recording of actual product sizes from technical drawings and notification of products unsuitable for processing.
  • Raise Non-Conformance reports for products that don't conform to specification and register each NCR for subsequent analysis.
  • Ensure all measuring equipment is maintained in line with the calibration system.
  • Deliveries and collections in the local area.
  • Keep goods inwards clear, clean, and tidy.
  • Liaise with relevant teams to sort out any queries.
  • Picking & packing parts for shipment.
  • Kitting for the assembly line.
  • Cycle counts and stock take

Measures of success

  • Strong working relationship with all the staff.
  • Commercial cost saving through effective goods inspection
  • Process improvements, resulting in time and cost savings throughout the year, and at stock take
  • Goods inwards well organised and a safe area to work

The Person

  • IT literate, experience with SAP advantageous
  • FTL Counterbalance license holder
  • Driving license holder
  • Quality aware
  • Selfstarter and a quick learner.
