Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Location:
Bradford


Contract Type:
Monday - Friday (Full time)

We have an exciting opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a primary SEN provision in Bradford.

We are working with a cluster of special needs schools in Bradford specifically catered to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and complex needs.

In this role, you will support students with a range of learning needs and support students with challenging behaviour.


As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with special educational needs to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Working closely with the teaching staff, you will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide individualised support to students with SEN to help them engage effectively in learning activities.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement and adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes positive learning experiences for all students.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Support the students with their lessons and activities.
  • Be a role model and encourage positive behaviour
  • Be confident with behaviour management and deescalation strategies.
  • An optimistic outlook and determination to make a difference to children's education.
  • Assist with personal care when required.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of different learning styles and strategies to support students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special education are desirable.
  • Level 2 Team Teach is desirable, although this training can be offered by us.
  • Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
