An exciting opportunity has arisen in NUH Endoscopy for someone highly motivated and dynamic to support the training and development of the well-established team of nurses with in NUH endoscopy.
Endoscopy is a busy, diverse and expanding specialty that caters for a wide range of endoscopic procedures within Gastroenterology and Respiratory.
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic nurse with leadership and teaching skills who will ensure the highest standards of care are in place and will be pro-active in the professional development of the nursing team.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with the senior endoscopy nursing team to meet local and national targets and develop the service in line with the requirements of the regulatory bodies.
The service is committed to the advancement of Endoscopic procedures and to the development of staff, so opportunities for professional advancement of knowledge, skills and practice are a focus which the post holder will be expected to support and develop with in the role.
Main duties of the jobTraining Endoscopy staff in Endoscopy procedures, kit and accessories.
Work clinically alongside staff to train and coach.
Writing inductions for new starters in endoscopy, reviewing their progress, and writing action plans to ensure their training needs are met and they are fully supported.
Maintaining endoscopy training records
Assist in training staff in JETS workforce and teaching on ENDO1 and that staff are signed off in relevant DOPS.
Assist in running and teaching on training sessions including the induction days, skills sessions with animal models, simulation sessions, and masterclasses.

Ensure that delivery of person centered care and compassionate care is at the Centre of the specialty.
Spend 80% of their time in clinical practice in a supervisory capacity supporting new starters, Trainee Nursing Associates (TrNA), international nurses working alongside nursing staff providing clinical care to develop their knowledge and skills.
Deliver a specialty specific program of training and education ensuring nursing teams have the skills and competencies to function safely, effectively and efficiently.
This will include supporting the PDN for the specialty in the planning and implementation any new or extended clinical skills or roles.
Contribute to the development; implementation and evaluation of the Education and Training Needs Analysis for the specialty ensuring returns from appraisals are fed through to ensure continuous professional development for the area.

Contribute to the delivery and facilitation of individual sessions on the divisional/trust education and training programs.
Support the division in sharing of best practice and learning from patient complaints and incidents, maintaining a continuous cycle of improvement.
Work collaboratively with other clinical educators across the division to ensure education and training opportunities are shared across the division and inter-professionally.
Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 1st level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Minimum Diploma level study
- Evidence of a being a supervisor or assessor for students
- Evidence of a Teaching qualification or course attended
- ENDO1 Faculty
- Simulation Faculty Course
Essential criteria
- Must be able to demonstrate Behaviours consistent with the Trust's "We are here for you" behavioural standards
Essential criteria
- At least 2 years endoscopy experience and be able to work in the procedure rooms
- Demonstrates experience of supporting change into clinical practice and has an awareness of the change process
- Experience of teaching staff in endoscopy and providing feedback
