Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior to Principal level AI Designer to join the team behind Total War, Alien: Isolation and Halo Wars 2, to own, design and collaboratively implement a roster of AI enemy types on a new project being built in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5).

This will be based at our studio in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex.

Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio.

We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and empower our teams to define the working patterns which work best for them, which may mean different things for different teams and roles and at different times.

This role is Hybrid and has an expectation of 1 day every 2 weeks in our Horsham studio. We will consider remote working in exceptional circumstances. Further details can be discussed during the recruitment process.

Key Responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis you will:

Work closely with design leadership to realise the game's vision
Deliver compelling and bestinclass game AI
Work closely with a team of programmers, animators, artists and others on the NPC roster
Drive AI features forward and be responsible for their delivery
Communicate outward to the rest of the team to ensure consistency, visibility and quality
Mentor and manage other game designers.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential

Experience in designing and implementing AI or NPC opponents
Have worked on AI systems and NPCs in a design role on one or more shipped titles
UE4/5 experience
Strong understanding of AI roster design
Excellent communication skills written and verbal.

Desirable

Experience with Unreal AI features
Familiarity with and a passion for AI learning
Have previously worked in third or firstperson games.
